Internship at Oasis is an opportunity for you to dedicate a season of your life to the local church. It is an opportunity to experience a strategic, fast paced ministry environment that will prepare you with skills and habits you can take with you in your future in ministry or the corporate world.

Oasis Interns will choose one ministry area (i.e. groups, children, operations, production). They will specifically focus their ministry efforts during their internship and they will receive special training.

Interns will gain experience in the following areas:

  • Attend Leadership Trainings — make new discoveries in leadership development, spiritual growth, and ministry methods from members of the Oasis team.
  • Participate in a Life Group, and then lead one!
  • Serve at weekend services.
  • Build community with others in your intern class through weekly study, prayer, and reflection groups.
  • Be mentored by your ministry-focus department leader.
  • Attend leadership development events with the Oasis team.
  • Interns also have opportunities to connect and observe other growing ministries at Oasis.
  • The Oasis internship is a training ground for emerging leaders. During your intern year, you will accumulate valuable experience, mentors, and knowledge that will prepare you for stepping into the next phase of your God-given calling.

  • Gain experience through hands- on ministry training.
  • Improve understanding of effective church systems and strategy. • Improve leadership foundation through experience and teachings. • Become a disciple maker in the workplace.
  • Potentially be hired on as paid staff.

What age is ideal for the Internship?

We don’t have an ideal age, just an ideal attitude. We are constantly searching for self-starters, quick learners, people who love a challenge, and those with a heart to serve.

What ministry areas can an intern participate in?

Each intern will focus on one of the following ministry areas: operations, production, kids, students, etc. You may have opportunity to participate in a number of ministry areas.

What does a typical week of internship look like?

It really depends on your area of ministry, your hours of involvement will be decided between
you and the Supervisor of your ministry area. However, much of what we do takes place on Sunday, interns should expect to help carry out various leadership roles within their designated department to pull off the weekend services. They are considered staff members, and generally are on the front lines of ministry during all Sunday services. Departmental supervisors will determine specific responsibilities. In addition, interns participate in departmental meetings; spend time meeting one on one with their supervisor, and focus on carrying out various departmental responsibilities. Over time, interns will be responsible for taking the lead on projects and teams within their ministry area.

Which staff members do interns interact with?

The internship will be administered by your ministry director. This staff member will serve as the primary leader for your internship experience. Interns will interact with our lead pastor, Dustin Funk, and other Oasis staff members during weekly leadership trainings for teams.

What is the primary goal of our Internship?

Internship is a training and proving ground for emerging leaders. During your Internship year, you will accumulate valuable experience, mentors, and knowledge that will prepare you for stepping into the next phase of your God-given calling. Our desire is that your Internship year will give you the experience and training you need to take your next steps in living a life that matches your unique gifts with God’s specific purpose for your life.

What qualifications are you looking for in Interns?

Previous ministry and leadership experience is preferred and specific experience in the desired ministry focus area is certainly favored. We also look for people who have a clear sense of being called to serve others and dare to dream big dreams for the Kingdom of God. We also place a high value on attitude, flexibility, sense of humor, and the ability to work within a team environment.

We are flexible in try to accommodate both part-time and full-time interns.

Can I seek outside employment?

Absolutely! It is our expectation that most, if not all, interns will secure outside employment. We ask, however, that ministry expectations and time requirements take precedent over outside work schedules on Sundays and potentially other days of the week.

Do I need to have a car?

You will be responsible for your own transportation.

How long will the application process take?

Upon receiving your completed application, we will schedule interview(s) in order to get to know you better. Next, we will take some time and pray for God’s wisdom and direction. Within approximately a week after your interview(s), you will receive a response from Oasis.

Is everyone automatically accepted?

No. Oasis’ internship is not the right place for everyone who applies, nor is everyone who applies right for Oasis. We also have a limited number of available internship spots at one time.

Why is the application process so intense?

  1. It shows you who we are! We do nothing by accident, and that includes adding team members.
  2. It shows us who you are.
  3. The money and time you invest in this process will help you in life regardless of your acceptance onto our team.
